ECUtune stage 1 and stage 2 I think can do that, but they will not work on OBDII car's (96-97 SVX).

If you're at altitude, 3000'+/1000m, you shouldn't have any problem running 87 w/o any reprogram other than ecu reset via 1/2hr battery disconnect.
Altitude the great anti supercharger.

I ran 87 on my car at low altitude without any reprogramming. The car ran just fine.

I know a few owners who have run theirs on 87 and they say there are no problems. I am a little hesitant to do that.

I think if you need to worry about saving a matter of a few bucks each fill up to run regular, than owning an SVX must be killing you.

If you think about it most gas stations difference between regular and premium gas is about $0.20. Our tanks take 16 gallons of gas so that would mean you're paying a little more than $3 extra for the required high-octane gas.

Sure the $3 adds up in the long run, but would you rather do that, or run the risk of getting a knock or worse things by running regular to save a few quick bucks?

This topic has been argued many times before

I run mine on 87 without any reprogramming or the Stage 1 chip hooked up...no problems here.

If you car doesn't knock, run badly or get awful mileage on EconoSludge, it's foolish to spend more.
