The door locks on my svx are actin funky

Ok this happened a while ago, but i have never had time to get to it. School, bills, and work have been keeping me busy for a while but this problem needs to get fixed. About three months ago my SVX devoped this problem where the locks on both the driver side and passanger side of the car wont work. The interior switch is stuck in a limbo between being in locked position and being in the unlocked position. If you try to lock the SVX from the exterior it wont lock, and if you try to shove the interior lock with some force they wont move. From what i rember this occured fairly randomly just one time when i was tring to lock or unlock the doors the locks got stuck in limbo and it has nver gone back. I have remvoed the doors panels a couple of times for speakers, but thats it and iam fairly confident that i dident mess something up while being in there. I have disconnected the battery with no luck also. Any ideas? Thanks

Sounds a bit like what happened to me. The pass door lock was seized in the "lock" position, and the only way to open the door was for me to get in the drivers side and push the lock up while someone opened the door. Turns out the lock actuator had gone bad and stopped working. It's the little black box inside the door that operates the lock. I simply removed mine. It's a bit of a pain with all the linkages. Now my doors just work as if I never had power locks. I can lock or unlock manually.

Did you have a problem with a bad battery? Cause that'll do it.
I've been in mine many times (due to battery problems) and they are a pretty simple mechanism (mechanically) but the electronics that drive the actuator motors are quite tricky sequence-wise. i.e when you press the drivers lock down it passes a contact that signals the a high voltage condition for both doors that serves to then lock the passenger side etc etc.

Sometimes mine will work and sometimes not - for the life of me I can't figure out why.

Anyway, what I can tell you is if the lock is stuck halfway down then what has probably happened is that the lock lost power at some point during the lock cycle. To fix that you need to remove the lock mechanisms (the black box) and open them up and turn the little motor around until the contacts are back in the right spot - sounds tricky but you'll see when you open it up. Once you've done that if you get a 12V DC power supply and just check that the lock is cycling when you touch the wires to the motor contacts it should be working OK.

Of course this is assuming you don't have any sort of mechanical seizure.

First off thanks for the replies. Yeah ill check out the door acuator in a day or two. The thing is it happened with both locks at the same time ( i was using the drivers side lock when it occured). Similar problems have occured before where it would stick for a second but with a little force you could get them to work fine again. I have been having a continual battery problem with the SVX ive gone through like 4 batteries in four years, but i think the GCs are the main culprit for that. ( To many vibrations)
