The Earth has always had these cycles and will always continue to have them. The combination of arrogance and ignorance these doomsday seers have that makes them think humans can single handedly wipe out the planet of all life makes me want to reach out and punch them in the face. There will come a day (might be in 100 years, might be in 100,000 years) when humans, too, will become extinct just like the dinosaurs did and another form of life will survive our extinction and move on to develope like we did. And guess what? They too will "destroy" the Earth when the cycle repeats and they become extinct and the cycle will continue again.

What pisses me off most is the very most outspoken tree huggers like that @sshat, Al Gore, and his typical liberal "do as I say, not as I do" rhetoric as well as the idiots who think with their emotions and not their heads who are so eager to believe that the sky is falling. Never forget folks, that there is plenty of money and power to be gained by fear mongering.

egad, we are NOT running out of oil...

There is an oil field in Canada that has enough oil (all be it more expensive to extract) that has enough oil to supply the world with what it needs for thousands of years...

The whole "Running out of oil" bit has been shoved down every ones throat for so long that people just decided to believe it.

The "current" oil sources are running low. Sure, there is plenty more around the earth, however the biggest problem is the red tape. Oil companies have been lobbying to be allowed to drill in new places for years, but either our government or the government of the country which owns the land we want to drill in says no either because it's a "protected area", they don't like us, or it's a national park. It's not a matter of finding more, it's the political BS that keeps the oil companies from going there.

The latest jive I've heard on humans becoming extinct:

we are making ourselves infertile.

I don't remember how. Has something to do with wearing pants, and a few other factors.

There is no time to debate the issue. Remove your pants so the human race might live on.

yes, tread lightly on the delicate feelings of those who post here. you wouldn't want to get yourself reported to the mods for causing any chapping.

The scary thing is no one has a real answer for drastic(if thats whats coming) enviromental change. Is it caused by humans or a natural occurance? By the way running out of oil would be a good thing-then we wouldnt have to rely on rogue nations controlling part of our lives. I hate to say this but we will have to wait and see
