steering help! (VW)
i could post this on vwvortex.com, but i dont like them all that much... (feels like nasioc!) anyways...
the roads were covered in snow, and i was doing a u-turn in the middle of the street, i knew i was getting close to a (what i assumed was a short curb) and expected to ride up onto it and finish my u-turn... instead of riding up... i slammed into?! and now my steering is bunk... the steering wheel is definately anywheres from 90 to 180 degrees off where it should be, and the tires are visibly pointing different directions (not drastically though) what'd i break? how far can i drive it? (foreign affairs (euro fix-it shop) is 2 blocks away) thanks in advance, and i dont need any more lectures

Eh, it happens. Cant really say waht you may have bent (most likely a tie rod, possibly a bent strut) You could probly drive it two blocks without to much damage or just get it towed if it feels to unsafe.

thanks for the response...
now could the tie-rod be completely broken? would the steering on that side respond at all with a broken tie-rod? cause it Does turn from side to side, just not as much as it should... and it seems as though my steering wheel's responsiveness is very very... sporadic... mind you it was pointing at 9o'clock or straight down most of the time i was driving straight! any other advice is appreciated... thanks

Well if it still moves it cant be compleatly broken. Probly just really bent. Should be able to tell by sticking your head under there.
