electronics question

does anyone know of a 12v transmitter that can send a radio signal about 4 feet to a 12v reciever that would switch on/off a battery powered led.

In theory, isn't that just what a Garage door opener does

Print server can be made to do the same thing. Usb throws a switch.

Yes but I'm thinking on a much smaller scale, as small as possible. Like model airplane stuff, but 12v.
