It would appear that I made a suggestion which was incorrect. Sorry and no harm done I trust. Whatever, best wishes for a complete recovery.

Thank You!!

It seens that the prob is clearing faster, even though it hit worse.
I have noticed a 50% improvement in the last 2 days!

It still sucks to be me, but the guy that has it worse than anybody else still has my sympathy!

How's things on our Island??
My people came from there about 120 years ago, when the biggest problem faced by the guys that took this country from the indians was the 'influx' of Irish immigrants.

The Irish were hated here BEFORE the Blacks!

We came and took all the jobs, etc, etc!!

Add Mexicans, Chinese,etc.....All you have to change is the DECADE that we are crying over!

Things are very good here Jerry. And, as Trevor says, best wishes for a complete recovery. Give it a little time and patience, Please God it will all come good.

I'm aware that the mass Irish immigration into the US had its problems. Building your railways, it would seem many Irish and many Chinese died in what were practically slave labour gangs. The pattern was repeated over and over.

Similar applies to Australia and New Zealand where Trevor is, but the Irish native element seems to have come more to the top of those societies over time, than in the USA. It is possibly a function of the lack of education of those landing on shore, maybe even the lack of English language, many Irish emigrants were from the poorer Irish-speaking regions.

Good news anyway that today we have less problems. Ireland is now a pretty prosperous place, a lot of building and expansion going on. We have a lot of immigration now, people coming to us from Africa, China, Eastern Europe, England, South Africa, Australia, pretty amazing really.

We tolerate them all, so long as they bring wimmen.

Just joking, don'tcha know. Immigration has been good to us. Win Win. Very productive people coming in to help us build a booming economy. Interesting people to meet. Ethnic shops pubs and restaurants all over the place. We never had it so good.

Why don't you make your way over here for a holiday? Give your eyes a treat as well as a rest.

Joe

Joe, there is no evidence of the Irish suffering in this way down here. Some Chinese had rather a bad time during the gold rush, but came good in the end.

Thanks Trevor.

I did not state the point very well. I was relating it to Irish immigration in the southern hemisphere having its problems, a point from the earlier paragraph ref the USA, rather than about dying in labour gangs.

The sort of problems I was referring to was like where much of the original Irish stock were sent as convicts to Van Diemen's Land. I'm well aware that many Irish people emigrated to Australia/New Zealand and were not convicts, so please don't take offense anybody, no insult is inferred or meant.

In fact, I'm quite certain many of the original "convicts" were very decent people, not at all criminal in nature.

The rallying anthem for Munster Rugby Club [have you All Blacks heard of Munster?] is called "The Fields of Athenry" It's a ballad about a man being caught stealing corn during the Famine to feed his starving children, and the punishment by the court is to send him to a prison colony in Australia.

The storyline is no doubt romanticised, but these ballads do reflect the unfortunate truth in many cases.

Joe no suggestion of any offense. Take note that N.Z. was in no way an offshore jail and only a very few escaped from Australia and reached these shores. Hence the difference in character as shown by a certain individual hiding the truth here.

One of my sons was a member of a local Irish band and sung several of the
type of ballad you mention. Heart breaking stuff and great music. It certainly was a time of awful suffering for so many.

You guys are a lot of laughs, and I really like talking to you. Your signature reminds me of a short story where a bird was freezing to death and a cow pooped on him to warm him up. Next came a fox that pulled him from the poop and ate him.. Moral of the story

It's not always your foes that get you neck deep in crap and not always your friends that get you out..

Jerry,

Poor little cow was that bird.

What does the fifth voice say? Now that IS important.

Cheers, Trevor.

That no matter what the teacher says, LIFE EXPERIENCES add up to a higher score than what someone WANTs you to think!

My best teachers ASKED me what I thunk about it, rather than trying to impose thiir will on me. ( I proved 2 teachers WRONG!)

I got a machine started that needed a .25 cent part, ( that NO teacher believed me when I told them). I got the machine started and they used it for 20 years.

DUHHH!! Redneck 1, teachers 0.....!!!

update..

I had my last visit with the 'eye guy' on monday.. He put an aircraft landing light into ,my dialated eyes, then said'" Now comes the BRIGHT one!!

He then hit me with enough light that my TOES curled!

After about 15 minutes of that abuse, He declared me to be 'as good as I'm going to get', and sent me home.

He said that any thing done by surgurey had more risks than benifits in a case like mine.

On the plus side. All the major problems were sorted out by God before I got there. My eyes were working better than they had been for over 6 weeks.

HOWEVER, after all the poking, prodding, whatever, I had to take a nap for several hours before going to work, wished for a 'Pilot' to get me there, couldn't see well enough to do what I was there to do, but managed to see the shift through..

I showed up today, and a co-worker told me that my eyes were bloodshot and asked if I was OK. I told him that the exam must have been worse than I thought because the eyes were numbed when I got there.

I am glad that I am no longer on 'the road', because I would have missed about 6 weeks of work.

I guess that I am not ready, yet, to drive a commercial vehicle.

Even if some schmuck blew off a stop sign, my eyesight would be mentioned in the $1,000,000 LAWSUIT!!

The last time I had one of these 'episodes' I had 125 cars to crush that paid the bills till I got back to work. ( 6 weeks)

That was 5 years ago. I only have 25 cars that can go this time!

Thumbs up

Jerry

This is progress. You can see, you can work.

Obviously you need to take care, make sure you are not doing something where the sight will let you down, create an accident or a problem.

Tough it out Jerry. Get plenty of rest, and restrict reading and TV and computer to reasonable levels to avoid strain.

Good news, man. Manage the problem. Take good care of yourself.

Joe

Other than work related abuse, I only get on the comp about 2 to 3 days per week
I limit the visits to an hour or two per session.

Thanks for the advice!

By the way, I had my 5th grandchild delivered on monday!! It is another boy!!

Score , so far, Boys 3, girls 2!! ( but I love them all!!)

Also, our 'Molly' delivered her first litter of PUPs last tuesday. It will most likely be her LAST litter, but we just wondered what her and Lou would produce.

They made 2 girls and 2 boys, 2 brown and 2 black, too cute!!

Lou is a 6 lb mexican chi-eranian, and Molly is a 10 lb peek-a-pom.

Congratulations!

Sounds like life is good otherwise, all things considered.
