Limited Slip Differential Additive or...
Hi!
My transfer clutch have been replaced about 8,000km ago and since I have put my summer tire, I have a binding from the rear (I think) when I turn. The problem became worse with time. I can make the binding go away with a couple of 8 in a parking lot, but when the car is cold the same problem appear again. I think that when the oil get warm/hot, the problem go away. Should I try the Limited Slip Differential Additive with my 8,000km clutches? Thanks! |

yeah you should
don't put too much in... i have appx a bottle and a half in the car right now (filled it, put a bottle in, drained it, put another bottle in) and it slips. try half the bottle and see if it goes away.

Nomad,
Sorry to be a thread digger, but was the additive put in the transmission, the front differential, or rear differential? Thanks,

unless...
you are talking about the limited slip diff additive. That goes in the back. I just added some to mine because i was having some binding issues lately as well and after about 300 miles it has completely gone away. Its pretty nice stuff. Doesn't take much though. The bottle of additive is 6oz or something, but it did the trick.

if your awd is binding put it in the transmission for the limited slip diff that is the AWD system
the rear diff should have the additive in it already

In the rear diff the limited slip unit is sealed with a silicone fluid. The rear needs no special oils other than the regular gear oil.
Subaru recomends ; API, GL-5 I just used Mobile 1 75/90 synthetic gear oil. Last edited by svxfiles; 08-25-2004 at 07:26 AM. |
