Messed Things Up More

yeah, so i removed the valve body from the transmission, and fixed the shorted wire to the shift solenoid that was giving me trouble... now the car goes forward in reverse. i almost drove off of the front of my wheel ramps..

does anyone have any ideas what i did wrong?

it just doesn't make sense to me, the wiring is right now, the vavle body is back and bolted in correctly,

Did you disconnet all the solenoid wires? Then are you sure they went back on the right solenoids?

Significant Technical Input Registered SVX
Reversing to hell.

I can't see any way you can get the low/reverse clutch to operate without the gear lever being in the reverse position. It is a vital part of the operation. Make sure the lever is operating the gear box, besides the inhibitor switch.

Harvey.

The forward-reverse selection is not done by solenoids, it is done by a mechanically driven valve (that long stick in protruding from valve body). It is normally hooked to the gear selector.

Most likely you did not hook it up properly when you put the valve body back in. Although I'm not sure if it is possible to put valve body back in without properly connecting the valve - when I tried to do exactly that :-) something just diid not fit right.

long stick protruding...
the one that tries to fall out when the valve body is not level?
yeah that went back in... but didnt' connect to anything, it just sat there
should it have connected to anything

none of the gears work, reverse or forward they all just rev
it was suggested to me to overfill the transmission and just let it sit with the engine at idle for abotu 15 minutes to give it a better chance of flushing out any air bubbles in the hydraulics of the transmission

is this good advice?
