ECU Problems

Alright, since ive installed my exhaust the ECU has adjusted the timing 2 times since, and now in between shifts it sometimes will bog down then recover, im running insanely rich too, my car floods and i have to pump my pedal at times while starting and it puffs a cloud of smoke then smells of fuel pretty strong. Im thinking my ECU is taking a ****e....I cant get 2 consistant pulls with it driving, track or anything, its like it cant make up its mind, so im going to check it out tonight, reset it and see what she does...Today it thru a check engine light, i pulled over turned it off, checked it out, started it up, no light, wrapped it out to 7k 3-4 times nothing. I think im fouling o2 sensors, i killed a wideband with richness when i first got exhaust so i think im still wayyy too rich.....

Any ideas would be appreciated

Just had injectors pulled cleaned....new fuel filter, i had subaru redo everything not inside my motor, and some stuff that was inside the motor after they killed it...but its not what they did this time, because this is the reason i took the car to them, and had plugs, wires, i mean everything...

How are you going past the rev limiter to 7k?

Sounds like something ignition related, not ecu. You said they did plugs, wires. There are no wires, there are coil packs. Maybe something is wrong with the work they did.

What exhaust did you put on?

My timing skipped one time, I had no idea what had happened. Sounded like a terrible exhaust leak, so I had the gaskets off the manifolds done. Tried to start it with just manifolds and it wouldn't start.

Maybe your exhaust is too free flowing, not enough back pressure. When my timing skipped it was only running on three cylinders and definitely noticeable. You may also be having timing issues, just not as drastic.

2.5 Dual Inlet Cat to single 2.5 to Magnaflow muffer...

I believe there is plenty of back pressure, if not the supercharger will correct the problem i suppose...LOL...

I can wait, im just curious to what it might be if not back pressure...

You said that you 'checked it out' when the CE light came on. Did you pull the code(s)? If not, I suggest you do so. I think you may have bad o2 sensor(s). Don't pump the pedal when you start it. That is why it smells like fuel. You should never have to pump the pedal with fuel injection.

Im aware of that fact that I shouldnt have to, but i do otherwise it takes excessive cranking, i think the coolant temp sensor is bad, the one that controls the thermowax if we have one to hold the butterflys open based on coolant temp.

i used a lot of parts there that the svx might not have..LOL...I havent looked at the TB to a SVX yet. Im just using mazda terms...

Pull the code. Takes less than five minutes.

There are such things called intermittent codes. Sometimes the light will come on every once in a while. Whenever your light comes on, a code is stored. There will be a code. Just check it. It will eliminate the guessing of what your problem is.
Follow this link for instructions: codes

I'm suprised those things max out at fifty. Thats good for you though, right?

The whole speedo off thing might explain your above average fuel economy...
