OEM Radio Illumination?

Can anyone help me out here? Just noticed tonight that the illumination on the Radio/Cassette player in the SVX are out. The station number is still lit but all others are out including presets/band/etc. I see it's no fun to pull the unit out per other archived instructions (thanks very much!), but has anyone had the opportunity to replace this/these lamps in the OEM player? I'm no stranger to Subies lil lamps in the HVAC controls and buttons in my Legacy and figure it's probably simpler than it looks. HELP!?

Before doing all of that, try hitting the dash with your hand or fist. It has worked with a few of them out there. If not, then you can start to pull it out and replace it. Good luck.

Earl's method worked this morning, but I think yours sounds like a warmer and fuzzier way to carress the Beast! I'll have to give it a shot.

Unfortunately, unlike the CD player with the removable card, that contains the lights, the Radio lights are on a card that would have to be unsoldered. Then, each individual light would have to be unsoldered and replaced. The "intermittent" lights are typical of the SVX. I have two, they're both wiggy. One of these days, I'm gonna pull 'em out and fix 'em. One of these days.

just as a side note. Dealers have a program for replacing the lights through Panasonic. I would guess each of them charge a different amount.

I believe someone posted on this, some time ago. Cost them somewhere around 50 bucks to have the lights replaced and everything "tuned up." Not a bad price, actually.

Thanks Randy. Much as I try to avoid the dealership that would be a last resort. In California I could probably add another zero to that amount! Think I'll use Steve's method as required and Earl's as next-to-last resort!

Are there any package discounts for stereo light replacement, rear wheel bearing replacement, and visor replacement?
