H6 3.0 Question

Buh-buh-what???

The H6 3.0 uses a timing chain instead of a belt?

Anybody know why?

I believe it is because the chain is narrower and reduced the overall dimension of the engine.

Timing chain

Yip. Mattski would be correct. Saves something like 10 mm but thats what they say. Haven't heard it run but with modern sound deadening material I'm sure you can't tell a differece.

P.S. 20 minutes til I hit the slopes Mattski! I'm so excited. Haven't been out for nearly 4 days now and with this weather the slopes should be prime!

Night skiing in January is certainly a unique experience and recommended only for those of us who are totally nuts about the sport. You should have the slopes all to yourself under those conditions. Where are you going? I will be heading up to the Catskills on Friday evening for the 3 day weekend. Saturday I will be trying out my new GS speed suit and freezing my b**ls off.

My favorite area in PA is Blue Mountain. How about you?

Matt

Skiing

Just went to Ski Roundtop (between Harrisburg and York). It was quite bitter out. Temp gage on the XT said 9 when I got to the mountain. They've been blowing the crap out of the mountain straight since Friday night so it was Bitter. Snow was excellent and the beers went down smooth. Had a sligh incident about 9 when my tele ski caught an edge sending me tumbling head first down the hill. The thinkg actually came off and twisted my cable about 10 times. Took 10 minutes to get myself back together. As for PA favor. Denton Hill or Montage in the right conditions but both can suck if there's not much snow.

Thanks for the replies, guys. 1cm hardly seems worth switching from belts to chains, but whatever...

I am a fan of Blue Mountain too. My dad used to own a ski resort in PA, so I usually only went there. You know, free skiing and all. Now since it was sold, I have to go other places.

Mike, I feel so bad for you. (NOT!!) How many kids can say that their dad owned a ski area? Which one? You probably got free skiis too.

We really should try to plan an SVX meet and combine it with skiing.

It was a really crappy place called Ski Sawmill.. north of Williamsport. Small vertical rise, but the conditions were usually great because of the mountains location/orientation, and there were no lift lines. (Good for me, not good for dad.) hehe.

And no, i have never paid for a pair of skis in my life... I would usually take the demos from the ski shop at the end of the season. I have quite a collection of Volant's (My favorite skis.)

ski sawmill

I was at Ski Sawmill maybe 5 years ago. Not the worst I've been too. That would have to go to Bear Creek (between Allentown and Reading). I was even there after 10 inches of snow and it sucked.

Edit: I got it to work. Thanks for the link.
