Re: Has anyone actually installed 05-07 stock STI suspension?

Man, that's too bad... was really hoping it would work, since that would be a really nice source for new struts and springs. I would be somewhat worried about destroying the stock dampers with the stiff springs since the rates are so much higher, and they are no longer operating in the part of their stroke that they were designed for. Hmm. There has to be a good way to make it work...

Re: Has anyone actually installed 05-07 stock STI suspension?

I just picked up a 92 svx with a 4.44 swap, I was talking with one of the previous owners and SUPPOSEDLY this car has sti struts and modified impreza springs, it's definitely stiffer and about an inch lower than my other svx, but otherwise the ride is quite manageable even on our horrendous Maine roads. Stock width tires barely clear in the rear and the inner rear fenders have already been rolled.

I'm contemplating putting the stock springs with the sti struts to try and gain a happy medium of ride quality and height and handling. especially as I've already near ripped off the front bumper.

I will be getting it all jacked up to fix a couple of exhaust rattles and I will be back with pictures, hopefully someone can help.me identify exactly what they did, the sway bar IS attracted to the front strut, but it was definitely a custom bracket, the frame mounted bushings are being stressed far too much so that will need to be addresed.

I would think with STI struts on there, lowered 1 inch would provide very little travel. But maybe enough? I would like to go down 1 inch in the back. Are there STI lowering springs with enough drop to overcome the extra height?

Re: Has anyone actually installed 05-07 stock STI suspension?

I'm starting to think I might leave the rear as is. I put some 18" Infiniti rims on there and it actually looks more balanced, instead of so raked with the 17" Bullitt rims.
