one misconception, depending on the type of racing most racers buy cheap old cars then fix them up. They will spend more on entrance fees for race day then they will on the car.
my husbands new drift car cost us all of $1300. most of these guy go cheap on the car and then wicked expensive on the engine. so asking for a cheap trailer or donation is pretty common, especially when they dont have a sponsor. racing in any form is expensive, although if the car is road legal just drive it there and dont break it on the track.
