Probably the last question of the day...

Hi folkes, when I run my car, it overheats almost immediately - with coolent hissing out of where the water manifold meets the block on the passenger side - I've pulled the intake plenum and the water manifold. And am replacing the rubber o rings under the coolant manifold

Quick question - can a water pump immediatly fail? The fan system seems to be working fine, but the car got so hot it murdered the gaskets under the water manifold.

Should I check for blockages first, or water pump - engine has 150k on it.

I wonder if there's a blockage...especially if water is seeping out near the block.

Well, I just pulled the thermostat... It seems stuck closed... I really pushed down hard on the valve and it wouldn't open... I think I may have found my problem...

That could defidently cause the problem. If you open the radiator, and look in, you should be able to see motion if the water is flowing properly.
