The newer Elise has a toyota engine from the GTS Celica and before the 2JZ engine they used the engine 1JZ from the MR2. 190hp. Previously they used a Rover engine before Toyota. Oh god I could only imagine an STI engine in an Elise... that'd be 300hp in a VERY light car... woo hoo I can imagine hearing the BOV from hehind your head... Someone up for a project? lol
