Little problems

I have a 92 Teal SVX. The car runs like fine tuned clock. However, 2 things are bothering me. 1) The power steering pump builds up a lot of pressure and blows out the fluid from the top?, and when I put the car in Drive, it flares at 40 MPH. If I drive in 3rd, the car seems to drive okay, but it never goes into 4th gear? Any Ideas.

Thanks

I'd call the flaring a tranny problem and that's certainly not a little one. I think it's time for a swap.

As for the power steering issue does it turn smooth?

I assume the fluid is at the correct level with the engine off?

Has the o-ring between the pump and reservoir ever been changed?

Finally, welcome to the site!

Thanks for the welcome. Yes, the car steers and turns like a clock. I check out the oring tomorrow. As for the flaring between 3 and 4, my mechanic told me to have the tran looked at. Maybe a slight adjustment or maybe ?????. DOn't want to go there right now.

Look in the how-to section for the brake band adjustment. That might fix it for you. Also try disconnecting the tranny resistor behind the battery and see if the flair goes away. Is your power light blinking when you start the vehicle? If so, Check for the procedure on checking the tranny codes and see what the problem is. Good luck.
