How to disconect the igntion lock so mykey can come out?

I did a 5spd swap a while back, but have been pretty busy with other cars and school, now that i finished every thing i can finilay spend some time fixing every thing on my svx. I never did the fix to get the key out of my igntion becasue i have been having alot of problems with it. First i thought i did it but it only ignited the manu light ion the dash which was kind of cool becasue the car is now a manule but it dosent help the problem. Then i discovered that my ignition had complety come lose because the bolts that hold it to the sterring colom came complety off. So it took sterring colom trim off and put the bolts back in. I then tried to get the key to come out by doing the wiring again. I have had no luck what so ever. I think my ignition lock is stuck, i even have tried using the emergacny relese switch with no luck. Does any one know how to disable the igntion lock? It would be great to finaly get my key out of the igntion. Thanks

I am not sure how to do that, but next week I expect to take mine in to get the ignition lock replaced with a new one and I will ask them how it can be done. My problem is the opposite - the key keeps falling out (very worn) while driving down the road.

There are 2 pins on the white 4 pin connector by the shifter that need to be shorted in order to get the key out. Check Huck's 5 speed howto for more info.

Ive tried doing this multiple times with no luck what so ever. I tried every combination many times but my key wont come out. Did you have any problems like this?

Did you by chance remove the black shift lock control box that was located underneath the center consule near the shifter?

Yes i did.

I also got the key to fianly come out, it was the 2 middle pins. The key will come out, but you have to wiggle it around alot. It already once took me 5 mins to get it out. I tried using the little switch under the sterring wheel and it dident help at all. Which direction is it spose to be pushed to let the key out, passanger side, or drivers side? I tried both, and towards the drivers side helped more, or seemed to. Iam going done to a dealer to have a key made to the car using the vin so hopefully that will help.

Isn't the mechanical disengagement system under the steering column supposed to be rotated rather than being pulled/pushed?

Well i got a key made for the car, and not at the dealer. A lock shop took my key and measuered all the riges and then corrected them. I guess it works becasue the key riges go up and down by a certain amount so they can measure the old key and correct it. The new key works perfect and it was only $8 US. Less then the dealer.
