SVXplanations

<Now let's get him on this web site so he can explain himself. >

Harry....Earl had even more trouble adjusting to the new site than I did..if you can believe that! Well to be fair, he didn't have the time to bounce off the walls like I did. He'll catch on...

I talked to a lady at Canaan this morning and we worked out most of the details. She called back this afternoon, but I missed her; I was having a brake problem on the SVX seen to.

There will be a separate dining area available for us at now extra charge if we wish to use it. We just can't do any "official" club business in there or we will be charged. It looks like the rooms will start at $79 for a single, $86 for two, $93 for 3,and $100 for 4.
A room with handicapped access will be available Jerry. I will get the rest of the info tomorrow morning.

At first I thought 15 would be a safe number, but lets see...I'm already up to twelve that have said yes or strongly leaning that way.

Does anyone think I should secure a few more? Don

Harry, Don deserves all the credit for sniffing out Earl - although I DID supply Donnie with his phone #

It would be great if you could get Ruth to come AND your son and his SVX . . . this meet is sounding better all the time!

Short line

<Don,
Thanks for the heads up on the driving time. Yahoo strikes again.
Please e-mail me some info on the rooms. I'll talk to the BN tonight and convince her that we should go to this meet. I'll post
tomorrow.
Thanks again. >

Hey, no problem! I had a sneaking suspicion that you got some faulty mileage readouts there. I will post more on the rooms tomorrow. Glad to know you are back with us! Don

Don,

Actually he is doing it the smart lazy man's way. He calls up and makes appointments with differerent door to door vacuum cleaner salemen (Sorry sales people). He assigns each an area in his house to clean and sits & watches them do it. Then he listens to their sales spiel. When they are finished, he politely says; "No thank you -NEXT!!"

Don & Jerry,

The BN and I are coming to this meet. We should arrive at the hotel/motel/inn/Ron's pad on Friday evening (10/19)and leave Sun. morning (10/21).

Don, please e-mail me the info on the rooms as soon as it's available. Thanks.

Are Shari & Randy also coming to this meet. I see that he is about to break Nolan Ryan's strikeout record.
Before I was married, I held the "Strikeout Record"; but not in baseball.

Lightbulb SnowShoe ii List

Don & Jerry (Not to be confused with Tom & Jerry )

How about someone posting a list of those that are coming to this meet. I believe this was done for both Reading meets and Vermont.

Thanks

Larry III
If someone does keep a list, I hope that they do a much better job than I have in keeping track of the 10th Anniv. Meet List.:

You have the vacuum cleaner salesman confused with the carpet cleaner guy. Actually, I've found the leaf blower to be God's gift to male-dom & domestic chores. Ron.

I am still wondering if 15 rooms is enough. I got the lady's answering machine this morning; I'm still waiting for her to call back. Then Jean and I are heading to the mountains for some R&R before school starts next week.

Update

OK, here is the latest. They have a contract coming my way. "Technically" the rooms can't be held until the contract is signed and returned, but we aren't going to be bumped so I don't think it is anything to worry about. I will FedEx the signed contract early next week.

DO NOT CALL IN YOUR RESERVATIONS YET. Until the contract is signed, the main desk doesn't know we exist. I will notify everyone as soon as it is a GO.

Rooms have a queen bed or two doubles. Your choice. I posted the rates earlier. There is a 9% tax per day () We would have until a month before the meet to bail out without my credit card taking a massive hit, but I don't foresee that. If we need more than 15 rooms, it will be on a first come-first serve basis. If we get a big additional response before I get the contract, we can always add to the block. If I have missed anything, let me know. I have a hard time organizing my sock drawer, let alone a car meet! Don

Vacuum cleaners suck

sales spiel. When they are finished, he politely says; "No thank you -NEXT!!">

In our early years here, as I was struggling to get a permanent teaching position, Jean worked at many different jobs. One short little experience was selling Rainbow vacuum cleaners door-to-door. It was the pits, but she did make one sale....

....to me! (us) I must say, the thing is still running and doing a good job. Don

Hi-Ho Hi-Ho Its down the road we go...!

<You and Jean go have a blast>

Thank you, thank you. Got ole SuperRu's paint chips all waxed and polished and ready to go south. This is gonna be one of those "we will know where we are going when we get there" kind of trips. They usually prove to be interesting! We just didn't have the funds for the Outer Banks this year.

Think we can scare up some additional interest in the meet? Shake a few trees out there. I can always reserve a few more rooms until the contract is signed. I KNOW we have a few more that can make the short drive this fall. Check back with ya'll in a few days!!! Don

Harry, I think I'll be able to make it, and hopefully Chino can join us as well.
