no reverse
Hi guys-been a while.
Granddaughter needed a ride-so the old man donated the SVX to her to use 'till she can get her life together. Last week she was on the interstate and the car started making a loud metallic sound-the noise quit, but after parking the car, found out there is no reverse. It already has a factory reman trans with ??? miles. I can only assume the trans is toast, but with all of the electronics involved, only assume. Is there any hope? If not, there will be another SVX for sale, in Iowa if someone needs a project. Many thanks Jim |

Re: no reverse
I'm in the same boat. I'm waiting for my trans shop to check it out.

Re: no reverse
Jim, if there is a shop there you can trust to remove and re-install your transmission you can send it to me for a very affordable partial rebuild. There's really no need to scrap these cars because of a transmission anymore.

Re: no reverse
Many thanks for the offer longassname, really. Problem is, all I've done the past few years is spend money on her cars-I'm officially done. I'd like someone here to be able to get it and get it going again. It's got a rebuilt transfer case, new clutch drum, solenoid C, real solid body. But, it's her car now, she just needs something reliable to get her to work.
Thanks again!! Jim |

Re: no reverse
Depends on the milage on the rebuilt, but if it is a Subaru without 12,000 miles on it, it should be in warranty. Dealers love to change them for free because they get paid from the factory big bucks...
