I never said on street tires, otherwise I wouldn't be actively pursuing some 225/60 14s to stuff in there. FTD is unlikely but FPD isn't so out of the question on the right course. Granted I'll have 2 years of rust to shake off driving it and have never piloted it with decent tires (the falkens were simply too narrow). If you're not there to win why go though?

Many will remember that I put that XT through Rufus' crab fest autox skid pad faster than any SVX and I think young Tom (Harry's son's) Focus. That was on 2 Goodyear 195, a 185 Doral and a tire so cheap it didn't even have a brand name on it.

I can't wait to see your XT in action!

LOL!

I remember seeing Ben's white XT in person during the June '05 Hagerstown drag meet. Seemed to be in excellent condition and I remebered Ben telling he got over 30mpg on the drive down from PA. For a car that needs to shake off 2 years of rust, it was amazingly clean inside and out!

I can get well into the mid 30s in mixed driving if I pay attention to my acceleration/deac. and only use the a/c above 35-40mph. Oh yeah, gotta stay between 5-10 below the posted speed limits. I know with the right narrow tires 165 or 175s (running 205s now I could hit 40mpg out of her in mixed)

She's definitely a beaute and was in amazing condition. She just fit right in with the newer Alcyones at the meet...

Check the miata forums or your local SCCA forum for used 14" r-comps. There was a guy in my SCCA club who had some 215/55/14 victo racers for sale for like $75 a few months back, but they were pick-up only in Richmond, VA.

Have been and even asked for som but I'd wand 225/60s if I can which isn't the most popular size out there. She likes to spin those front tires coming out of a turn which really slows ya down when you're dealing with 120ish hp at the wheels.

I have my first big auto-X 'test' this Saturday when my SCCA Club hosts the Coventry CommonWealth Games at the airport in Danville, VA. There are numerous National Champs and podium finishers who'll be in attendance including:

Steve Rankins
Karen Kraus
Tara Knoll
George Bowland (he won A Mod at Natl's last year and PAX times in '06 were calculated primarily off of the times he ran in relation to the other classes)

They're other notable Nat'l level drivers in atendance but I'm not familiar with all of the names at this point. Close to 150 people will be competing with entrants coming from PA, MD, WV, VA and NC. I'm told all the 'PAX hunters' from surrounding states are rolling into town. I'm shooting for an overall top 50% PAX finish as this is a very deep and talented field.

Well, I officially cant go now. I was waiting to find out if I was going to be on assignment and my orders just came in. I get one 14 day cruise (on a Coast Guard Ship) in the north Atlantic. With exotic port calls in Boston, MS, Portland, MA, and Halifax Canada. I have to report in on August 18th and will get back arount October 1st. And no internet either.
