Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Mechanically I nowI have it perfect .Now I'm going to be working on getting a small tear in the interior fixed up by the head rest on the backseat (took it in for a quote . If i bring in rear seat they can replace the panels for $150 having both halfs done ( split rear seat ) BTW seats are not all leather. Then I'm going to bring it in and have some of the little parking lot dings taken out of and repaint the bumpers ,then she should be good.

Leather everywhere you sit. The vinyl is what cracked in between the 2 seat backs

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Yesterday took it to Ohio Valley Dragstrip (1/8mi) and ran a 9.7 for my first time out. Twas fun. The SVX didn't disappoint me like I figured it would.

Also, went down to the ohio river around 3am for some photos

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Changed the rear and front differetial fluids. I've had the car for 11 years and that was my first time changing those fluids (rear differential is original AFAIK, tranny is rebuilt). The front differential plug was full of metal shavings sludge.

It didn't make a noticeable difference in driving, but it did give me piece of mind. I'll be sure to do it more regularly now. The front differntial plug requires a 21mm socket. Used three quarts of Valvoline differential fluid 75/90 - (2 qts for the front; 1 qt for the rear) The rear differential plugs were a PIA, but with a break bar i was finally able to get the job done.

Front is supposed to be 1.3 quarts. Rear is supposed to be .8
Overfilled differentials are not happy. The rear may be okay if you did put in a full quart, but I'd recheck your level on the front diff asap.

You are right Nate and I just doublechecked the service manual to make sure. I mistakenly relied on a previous thread.

Just didn't want you to destroy your front diff.

Dropped the seats off for repair. Next project is paint. Toying with a compleat paint job. Looking at painting it Hyundai blue. Almost the same color , just more vibrant.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Seats came back, the woman did a decent job. She even fixed the bottom that has the black cloth on it, she used a fabric that they use in Submarines. Fire and uv protected. They look good, but not perfect. She left it slightly loose and said it will allow it to breath and not rip again. Also fills in the gap between the seats .
Next is parking lot dings ( dent doctor ) & rear and front bumper paint. We will see how that works 1st before I decide on a full paint job.
