Neighbors garages were falling down.
I have the best neighbor in town. He gives all kinds of stuff away that he rescues from reconstruction jobs and left-overs from new construction.
He has a 3 bay garage that he has 'given away' enough stuff to rebuild it many times over. It would have fallen in, except I got a couple guys to stop by and set some new temporary headers a couple years ago. That kept the roof off the ground. Well, a couple months ago, I started 'working on' him to do something with the garages. I dragged him into my garage and he saw MY stuff, all dry and useable, basking in the glow of an old VCR and cheesey 'B' movies about cars or 'dash cam' vids from Auto-X. I told him that HE TOO, could have a dry place for 'stuff'. Then he started seeing the 'stuff' that he gave me that I had used to make MY 'Man-Cave' better. He mentioned that I made a good case. So, I got a couple guys to stop by. We pulled his 1968 VW bus out from under a drastically sagging roof. (The bus had been sitting there for 18 years) We moved all his 'good' stuff across the alley to my shop and set to work. We rebuilt the headers in that bay, bagged all the trash, ripped out everything that was falling down or off, etc. Now, he has the 'fever'! He and his Lady are here every day 'off' digging footers, cleaning lumber and blocks, sorting stuff and making a neighborhood eyesore into a thing of beauty, (to a redneck) The falling down old garage is being transformed into a MAN-CAVE!!
