Whats wrong with this 97

Hope someone could give me an idea of what the problem is with this 97 Ebony that I am looking to buy. Here is an email from the seller

Hi Dan, not really drivable in my opinion. The engine stalls when it warms up. It was running fine. emissions were due in sept 2010 and the engine light was on. I had a local mechanic read the codes and add a knock sensor. After that it was idling rough. The engine light came on again. An o2 sensor was needed. After that it wouldn’t idle when warm and wouldn’t shift out of 1st gear.

Not sure if it all is related.
I don’t know what is wrong with it. I wanted to keep driving it. I couldn’t afford to keep taking it back to the mechanic to try to fix it. I don’t think he was familiar with the svx at all. Too techno for him.

So it sits in the parking lot all winter as a 3rd unneeded car. The registration is expired

Here are a few photos from a while ago when it was running and taken care of.
