Re: How much 'global warming' do YOU have to shovel tonite?

I want that much snow!!!

I think we've only had about 15-20 inches all winter and up until a couple days ago when we got 3 inches, it hadn't snowed in over a month
I even had snow tires for the SVX this year

Is that state-wide? We didn't get any snow here. Also, 20-30" wouldnt be abnormal here even if we DID have it. I have dinner reservations.

My brother is stranded in Wildwood NJ right now. All bridges are closed and apparently they are giving out $500 fines if the police catch you driving around.

We've gotten more global warming to shovel this year than last.

Actually I think I was wrong about that, a snow emergency has been declared which means buses are not running and cars have to be moved off of streets that are "snow emergency routes". Also it lets them get more plows on the road.
Still, best to stay home and let them get the streets done if you live in an affected area.

I don't know who wrote that list, or what their criteria was, but I'd be willing to bet they've never stepped foot in Colorado before. I work in Lakewood and drive to Fort Collins semi frequently for work, and neither of those cities is notorious for getting any more snow than the cities around them. Our biggest snowfalls tend to hit the mountains (duh...) and some of the southern-most cities in the metro area. In all honesty, we're way down on our snow totals this year. Should probably end up like last year when we were dry as a bone all winter but covered in snow from the first day of spring into late May (at which point the snow turned into severe weather and I had the most intense storm chasing spring/early summer in many years )

Re: How much 'global warming' do YOU have to shovel tonite?

I have about 24 inches and I'm glad that I have that snowblower that Mike thinks I don't get to use that much .

it is all shoveled and plowed and the cars are cleaned off (the ones that sat outside) and stuff is starting to melt where the sun is hitting.

I'm not doing too much driving as my re92's on the Baja have much FAIL right now so a lot of things are getting done around home.

We have 30 inches and the sun came out. I shoveled out the black Outback that was sitting on the street, then used it to 'BUST OPEN the alley where the red one is parked. I backed it in as far as it would go, then repeated as necessary till I was above the red car. (150 ft up a hill)
I spread cinders and sawdust on the packed snow. The black car has more agressive tires, so I knew not to try to bust it open with Lil' red wagon.
Red will do just fine now!

Re: How much 'global warming' do YOU have to shovel tonite?

the LGT + Blizzaks got me home safe with no problems at midnight last night while most others were floundering. i had to take a steep hill to bypass a main road where cars were scattered all over it with their flashers on.

when i got home, i couldn't pull in my driveway, because the snow was higher than my bumper, so i had to dig out a spot to pull in.

the FXT is now 13 feet tall!

I know, I didn't take it the wrong way Coloradans like to talk big like they're used to snow but in all honesty we get spoiled by our rapidly changing weather. It can snow 12 inches one day and then be 65 degrees the next. Its kind of funny when we get long lasting cold snaps because everyone starts to complain about how the snow won't melt between storms, which I know a lot of you Northeasterners are used to having snow on the ground for long periods of time. I'd also like to see how people here could handle an ice storm like they get over there. I know I'd be hating life if I had to experience anything like that. Driving on snow is one thing, but ice is a whole different animal
