Red face Sad cars rotting in barns

This is an interesting but depressing site where you can see LOTS os old muscle cars rotting away in farms and yards all over USA and some other countryes.
I visit the page since 2000 and there is always a new car added to the list.

http://www.carsinbarns.com/

WARNING: Muscle car lovers can feel sick after watching those pages.

I'm just glad that no one took any pics of my poor Formula 'S' Cuda over the past 8 years!! People would be cussing at ME!!

RELAX!! It had fresh primer and actually made it to a SHOW this year!!

It never got to the point that it wouldn't run, but sure got to the point where it LOOKED like it didn't run!!

Talking about Cudas, 4 years ago, someone offered me an 1970 Hemi Cuda´ without the engine for only 150 uss dollars. I hate myself cuz i didnt purchase it because of the broken front grille! F***!!!!!
It was sold 2 years ago to a brazilian collector for 75000 dollars. S***!!!!!

Did you see the movie, " JOE DIRT"?

THAT car would almost QUALIFY!!

(Cept, it's all Hollywood paint!)

That car lives about 4 miles from here. It belongs to a friend of mine! It has a NEW Dick Landy 440 engine and runs like a Swiss watch!

BEFORE I saw the movie, I saw the car! Robbie was buying a pack of cigarettes at a gas station as I drove past. I saw the car, was REPULSED by the sight!! Then I realized that I was looking at a bonified CELEBRITY!!

I felt RENEWED!!

Even though we live in the FOOTHILLs of 'Deliverance' , there are 4 'movie' cars that live here.
WE have a 'real' General Lee, (and some 'clones'), a 'REAL' Batmobile, the car that was featured in 'Fireball 500' in the 60's, and Joe Dirt's 70 Daytona.

Re: Sad cars rotting in barns

Our neighbor had a fully restored Dodge Charger with a pistol wooden carved stick and custom genuine leather buckets. He wanted to sell it first for US12k, then kept dropping the price till US4.5k. I was burning from inside because I loved the car but didn't have the $$$ not even for its gas!

Oh well the lucky buyer got it eventually for US3k

Re: Sad cars rotting in barns

Here in Paraguay, THOUSANDS of muscle cars were abandoned in farms or backyards during the 80´s, or sold to the junkyards to scrap, once i found a 1970 Hemi Challenger convertible (with a chevy V8 under the hood) in a junkyard, but the yard owner asked a lot of money for it that i couldnt afford, i have pics somewhere.
Also the practice was to remove the big V8 engines and drop a diesel in. Was normal here to find a nice 67 Mustang or Challenger with a LD20 nissan engine on it.

Re: Sad cars rotting in barns

THIS very DAY, a frame that I started on 13 years ago was dropped in my way!! IN front of my welding shop!!
It is a 61 Chevy short bed pu frame that I welded a Dodge Aspen cop car front end under over a decade ago!
I have decided to actually FINISH this truck as a 'RatRod'!!
It is getting a 455 Buick powerplant, (325 hp), a 4:11 Dana 70 posi rear that I am tired of moving 'out of the way', a 46 Dodge pu cab that I have 'given away' 5 times, that NO ONE ever built. A set of Hoosier 'R' compounds, and whatever ELSE is 'lurking' under the bench.

Note to self; Buy Batteries for the Dig camera!!

OK!! The frame has been stripped of all 'excess' pieces. The 4:11 posi is installed. The 'slicks' are bolted on, the time invested measures out to 1.5 hours toward the 40 mentioned.
The time that is spent drinking beer and measuring stuff does not count toward the 'build'. I am only counting time with tools in hand actually DOING something.38.5 hours left till the FIRST 'HOLESHOT'!

I have taken 5 pics so far. I have not had a chance to download them yet.
I have to steal the daughters puter to do that.
I will be dumping them into the photobucket that is in my signature.

455 is sitting about 10 inchs higher than it will be bolted!
Located the 2 rims I needed to mount the other tires, found a gas tank under the bench that will fit, hauled the aluminum bed sides home from my Bro's shop last night! Test fitted the 36 Chevy headlights, GO!!
Talked to the pipe bender guy about 'tweeking' the pipe for the cage.

The truck WILL be present at the 'carve' this year, but will not be participating! (unless things go REALLY WELL)

It will be RUNNING by Monday! It may or not have the body set by then.

Hahahaha So optimistic! I know that feeling of "everything will be finished by monday", but usually, dont.
