Exclamation Speaking of Radiators.....

My plastic/aluminum/plastic sandwich radiator blew a gasket, I was wondering if anyone has had any luck putting it back. It's the bottom connection between plastic & aluminum, there's 5 inches of a rubber gasket sticking out. Water just pours out. It blew while I was in a restaurant after a 5 hour trip. too much pressure I guess... I had almost no antifreeze in the system, just water. I know Stupid Stupid!

Hmmm, I don't know about resealing them... But I can tell you that I bought my replacement from ebay... I think the company is called "Radiators.com" or something... My replacement was $190 shipped and it got here in 2 days... It was exactly identical to the Subaru one... Plastic was stamped in the same places and everything liiked exactly alike.... Only difference that I could find was that there wasn't alittle "SUBARU" stamp in the plastic... Other than that, it is perfect

Steven,

Unfortunately, I do not have two rads - just one and it is yours; you responded first and are sending paypal payment and your SVX is clearly in need. Ensteele just made it known that if you didn't want it or if you took too long to make up your mind (or pay), that he was next in line. Besides, it's not like he doesn't have an SVX to drive - he has 13!

I noticed that he had a large collection, it seems that he has a post on nearly every thread! When did the colloection start, and what do you do with all of them ensteele?

P.S. that pic of all of them together is crazy awesome, I especially like the one with the hood scoop, is it functional???

I have a post in most threads because I am an administrator of this site.

I bought my first one in Dec of 2000. The number has increased from there. I drive them all. The hood scoop allows more air into the engine compartment which keeps it cooler. It is a carbon fiber hood.

Gee Earl, I wish I had your problem.

It's on its way!

Steven,

I made it home in time to clean up the rad and package it for shipment. It's in the hands of Fedex now (it's going Fedex ground) and you should get it early next week. Good luck getting your SVX back on the road.

It looks like he paid for it and it is on its way. I will go to my other option and get a different one in. Thanks I am glad that will help him get his back on the road.

In my mad dash to get it boxed up in time to make the Fedex 6PM pickup, I forgot to let you know that the payment and subsequent deal had been completed. Sorry about that. I'll keep my eye out for you for any good salvage rads in my travels.

Yes you can but it will take you more time than its worth. I changed the tops (actually side) on a XT6 radiator as they like to break at the return hose. Took me about 4 hours.
