Rob,
you'll need to compare the overall dimensions with the stock SVX springs to make sure you can even install them in the stock SVX spring pockets/top hats. Assuming that they will fit, I think they'll seriously overload the stock struts (i.e., you'll have to go to Koni inserts)

That isn't much less expensive than the Eibach's that come with the Ground Control coil-over Kit. I have 335 lb/in fr and 285 lb/in rear and they are very very stiff. I have almost no lean on very tight corners at the track. Have never AutoX'ed it so, don't know if it would lean there.

hmmmmmmmm
i guess 550/700 would be tooooo stiff for rally application.........?

and then i'd need to fab coil over hardware onto the stock struts........and find abuse-tolerant inserts(konis i guess arent so good at being pounded hard....)

dynomatt........what spring rates are u running .........?

what kind of strut did you want to use??? Going over stock ratios on stock struts really isn't recomended. Rates that high are insane and would blow out the struts in a single bound... rebound that is

Yea one of my stock struts are completely gone from everyday driving... so that would definitely take it out in a single bump hehe

thats what ive been thinking too.......
the plan was/is to run wrx second-hand rally front struts/springs in the rear
and i'm still workin on the fronts.........

any ideas?(for reasonable $$ )

the springs just looked so sexy...all shiny chrome...lol
but they are toooo stiff and i would spend a LOT of time/energy making them fit (let-alone WORK) so it's not worth it......

but for the front end........anyone have any thoughts......?
the rear seems easier to deal with than the front!!

for a rally car?? I don't think the koni/gc is a good idea.... might want to stick with stock or go to the DMS coilovers that Dynomatt has on their car...

i agree tom.koni is NOT the way to go.......

and dms...well gee...if i could afford dms.......!!

stock stuff with up-rated springs seems to be where i'm at for ideas right now...

the rear is fine, i can source used wrx rally fronts for the rear...
and if i buy new svx OE front struts and install...........?
thats the problem.....what spring would work on the front?

wrx rally fronts would work i 'spose.......but i think the front will be too soft...

a production class wrx rally car is around 3000 lbs (my estimate) and the svx will be approx 200 lbs heavier when done and easily half of that will be on the front wheels...

550/700? Want to just insert a steel bar where the strut is? Ride quality would be comparable methinks

How well does chrome stand up on a spring? From my experience (which is very limited, but anyway), chrome doesn't like to flex all that much, and cracks when you start asking it to.

true i thought of that too.......and having that razor sharp chrome flaking off and being present when trying to work in that area wouldnt be fun either...

My spring rates were 265 front and um 180 rears I think...(might need to check the rear).

265 was way too soft, so I'm trying some 400's, but I think I'll end up some where in the middle...my guess is 350s.

For rallying, that's pretty sharp...for tarmac rallying the rates you mention might work...otherwise, I reckon they are a bit on the heavy side.

Why is Koni/GC bad for rallying? too stiff? Or the fact that they don't warranty racing application?
