My "What was I thinking?" purchase.

Ever buy something then when you get it home ask your sell "What was I thinking?" Well I did last night. and here they are.

This one is about 4ft tall and 6ft long.

This one is about 3ft by 6ft.

This is about 3ft by 3ft.

And finally this on is about 2.5 ft by 3.5ft

I have no room to hang them anywhere and I paid $225 for them all. They looked alot small sitting out side in the parking lot were I bought them.

I felt that way after buying my second SVX until I drove it enough to know it wasn't a dog. Now I'm very pleased to have two.

Hey, if you've just got money burning a hole in your pocket I've got a couple of cars that could use a paint job...

Examine them carefully. Problem is that much of this stuff constitutes reproductions for retro pubs. If you have the genuine historic article, you could be on a win.

Cool, Mike

Do you guys get Harp in the USA? It is an Irish lager, brewed in Dundalk about 50 miles north of me.

At one time I drank nothing else.

Now I drink Budweiser mostly, my old stomach is less able for a full frontal assault!

I imagine Trevor is correct, they are made specifically for themed pubs.

I wasnt even thinking about collectables, I just liked them. And yes Harp is sold someplaces, but I'm sure it doesnt hold a candle to the Harp sold in other countries. (Stupid US restrictions on beer alcohol levels)

I think you just hang them and you have a story about them. Or you could make up a story saying your grandfather had a bar and he left you those...

Errr?, yes, I do.

And you got me on the Chef thingys, we don't have them here Alan.

As the old saying goes, "When in Rome..." , I've no doubt I would eat in MacDonald's, just like the locals do.

Budweiser is made for Ireland by Guinness here in Dublin. So my two draft beers of choice are Guinness or Budweiser depending. You gotta know Guinness, so if the Guinness looks good, that's what I have.

If I want a light beer, it will be Budweiser.

A friend of mine works in Guinness in the production side. He thinks Budweiser is weak p***, but says that of all the beers they brew, Bud has the tightest production specification tolerances.

I did not know that until he told me, but that is what I like about it. It is light on flavour OK, but is a quality brew.

Mike,
Neat wall hangings - if you don't have room, think ebay. You might even make some money on the deal.

As for your bar, how about a "half" of an SVX hanging from your bar wall - wouldn't that be SOMETHING!!!! And ALL of the Network would be on your doorstep for the opening - I bet Trevor and SVXISTENTIALIST would be there!!!!

Harry

its not the flavor (or lack of) that i have a problem with. i drank Bud exclusively (don't ask why ) when i was younger, and upon switching to Miller while on vacation one week, i realized that raging hangovers with pounding headaches were not to be expected, and were caused by the Budweiser.

i'm not beer snobbing you either, as my all-purpose beer o' choice is Miller Lite (now that i'm old. )

I don't doubt that. I drink a range of stronger German and Belgian and other beers in bottle. All-purpose, as you say.

I tried Miller, we have it here, and the guy that recommended it to me did so on the same basis you outline, no hangovers!!

Hangovers are more a product of additives, congeners they call them in the trade. Whatever congeners are in Bud, they don't seem to affect me. Or maybe the brew they make here is a little different than the US one.

I drink with some buddies every Thursday, one night in four I have to be the designated driver. Those nights I drink Beck's non-alcoholic. Those are the nights that give the worst hangover.

that's my exstick and I'm scusing to it!!

[The eek picture is how I look the next day; the tongue protruding from the blue face, but the eyes are redder!]

that's funny - when i was a poor college student they had $1 import night at a local bar. i would drink 10-15 Beck's, and wake up the next morning feeling good and refreshed! can't say that would ever happen with the cheap kegs we used to get.....

back to the topic, those signs would look good in a gameroom - just add a dartboard, a bar, and some beer wenches.
