But the forester that Chevy released in India is the replica of Subaru Forester with engine toooooo... nothin difference (Boxer H-4, AWD). So I think they have just changed the badge.

I thought you guys in the 'STATES' would be seeing the new SAABARU's over there by now?Saab Aero
There's so much rebadging these days, it's hard to tell where anything comes from!

And the world will be a better place.

Arthur, we do have Saabarus here in the states. A stroke of marketing genius: Re-badge a car that sells modestly as a make that doesn't sell at all.

Calling out poor Shadow like that. Platform sharing and rebadging is here to stay. It's just too expensive to launch all new models without tapping into the parts bin, or in some cases a whole car.

need the option of "i don't care", because Chevy selling a rebadged Forester in India really doesn't change my life in any way.

As long as it brings money into Fuji so they can hire a new design team they could call it a Pontiac for all I care. Sorry Shadow.

Yep!... its very upsetting me. Usually i dont care companies tieing up with others in India as it is common. There are many many automobile companies outthere who tie up and work combinedly. The best example is Suzuki tieing up with Maruti Udyog of India and many others with others. But i always thought of releasing Subaru launching in India and i am dreaming of a Subaru as my first personal car in India and I like forester very much and recently i have convinced one of my friend to buy '05 Forester when she has an option of choosing between Jaguar and Subaru. But now seeing Chevy badging Forester in India i was really frustrated as i already dont like chevy "tht much" except camaro and some other models.

Hope Subaru takes advantage in India as the sales of forester increase and release its models on its own.

-Pavan.

First a Saab rebadge and now a Chevy rebadge? I hate it. With all this rebadging going on you never know just what you are driving. I think the name plate should reflect who built the car, not who is sellling it.

Does'nt Saab have a commercial out that says something about "maintaining your identity"? With Subaru and Chevy now building cars for them, maybe they should take their own advice!!

It's not advice - it's marketing. There's a big difference.

GM got into a bit of hot water years ago when a customer complained that the engine in his Caddy was in fact a Chevrolet. Thereafter, GM ads had to disclose that its powerplants are shared among all its divisions.

Chevrolet, Cadillac, Oldsmobile, Buick, Pontiac, Saab, Lincoln-Mercury, Jaguar, Volvo, and yes, Subaru were once distinctive automobile makes. Now they're brands. One of these is history; which is next?

Very good Darrell, but it was an Olds and when the owner found out it was a Chevy motor, he sued.
