I took a set out of an newer car. Everything bolts right in. Not sure, but I think only the US cars had the auto belts, but all the cars were engineered to mount either system in them.
Here is a list of the stuff you will need to do it right.

Seat belts, including the female part that mounts to the seat.
trim pieces for above the doors
passenger grab handle mount ( different mounting location)
Carpet.
plastic pieces to cover the hole were the lap belts came out of the console.
the rear panels are the same.

Wher did you find the parts

I have called a bunch of places, even in the North West and still haven't found belts from an SVX. I am thinking about getting a generic set of gray ones from a standard Subaru.

Meanwhile... I never use my rear windows so I plugged up the driver's side rear window switch to the seatbelt motor. When I get in I just hit the switch. Kinda goofy but it works. Plus the light doesn't blink.

Most salvage yards will probably not want to sell you used seat belts, or just not want to deal with taking them out.
Your best bet is to find what you need from someone here that is parting out a later model SVX.
As for as taking some from another Subaru, you prbably would have a hard time getting them to mount correctly.
If they are not mounted using OEM bolts and mounting points you are looking at a safety issue also.

When you remove the lap belt mechanism below the door opening and replace it with the manual belt mounting point, there will be a large hole in the carpet.
If that does not concern you, no problem. You could let it go,or patch it with a piece of carpet.
The donor car I got the parts from had a nice carpet set in it so I put that in also.

Window switch

Funny thing... I may try to wire an inline switch similar to the window switch to buy some time till I can find a good doner car. It hasn't been too bad just using the rear window button to move the belt. I like having control over its function. No glasses being pulled off or hair being pulled.

both my 94s have the manual normal belts. I hate auto belts because they break and malfunction too much. anyway i think some 94 models and up have the regular belts. good luck finding them if thats what you want.

Question Help!

Not to beat a dead horse, but...

When I pulled all three plugs to the driver's auto-seatbelt I was still getting the clicking sound! That, and the seatbelt light kept flashing while I was driving with all the belts connected.

Does anybody know the difinitive wires to cut, unplug, etc. that will

1.) Keep the seatbelt shoulder attachment in the locked, upper position, providing manual attachment as an option. I believe the safety aspect of the lapbelt is mechanical: does anyone know if the shoulder belt's "reel" is also mechanical in nature?

2). Keep the seatbelt light on the dash off when all the belts are actually attached.

3). Keep the ticker in the trunk off: I have to presume that if the power to the ECU is off there should be no relay?/ECU? ticking?

I really appreciate your thoughts: I do want to get this sorted out in the end, but would just like to have a safe way to be able to let my wife use the car until my seatbelt parts ship comes in...

I don't want the battery running down, the relay to blow, etc.

Cheers!

Norm

Sorry all to bump this old thread - but I did so in particular to see if anyone found a fix to "STORMINORMAN" message below. He illustrated a problem that I just experienced with my new (for me) 92 SVX I purchased yesterday. Is there indeed a way to leave the seatbelt in the "locked" position and then use the manual release button to secure the belt? Does this solve the clicking problem? If, worst case scenario, I take the car to the dealer, will they be able to diagose and fix the problem for under $300. Thanks in advance for your help and guidance.

Thumbs up Driver's auto seat belt clicking fix

I know this is not a REAL fix, but just thought i'd thrown my two cts. worth in. my problem is identical to StorminNorman's.

The answer: disconnect the fuse to the warning flasher; this will stop the clicking of the relay. then disconnect the belt from the latch (which should be in the rear of its travel.

Buckle up manually!

FWIW,

Anybody ever figured out how to fix the relays on the circuit board?

Cheers!

I owned and operated a Company "Relays N.Z. Pty Ltd" and know how to fix any relay made, but --- before we start with a lengthy screed, EXACTLY what is wrong with the relays ? If they are sealed miniature units you will require a good deal of skill and knowledge. Have you any electronic hobby experience?

FWIW,
Things are getting more complicated; now, the door entry lights are blinking all the time. I just noticed they'd been on all day. So, what'd I do -- another fix! Removed the bulbs from each light. I'm gonna have to really fix this some day. Won't give up, because I just love my Subie SVX.

I'm using SVX Jazz's idea- using the rear window switches to control the seatbelts, I love it. You can find a write up on svx-iw.com

I tried this fix, following the pics, and it works fine, the rear window switch powers the belt. My problem is, I still get the clicking sound after I take the key out of the ignition. Now what? Is there any way to simply disable all this complication and buckle up normally?
