Unhappy Will Isabel find your SVX?

Well, you California earthquake guys, & midwest tornado guys can now look eastward & say, "tsk-tsk". Yes, we mid-Atlantic folks who have for the most part, dodged mama nature's uncertainties are staring at a big one right between the eyes, er....eye. You Florida & Carolina people are experts in dealing with wind & wet, but the rest of us panic at 4 inches of snow. While we have caught the tail ends of a number of 'canes, the last one to actually pass right over the Wash. DC area was called Hazel, & she dropped in 49 years ago, before there were SVXes, or even Datsuns.
So, with a broad swath of sustained high winds & guaranteed flooding about to greet everyone from NC to northern PA, WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO PROTECT THE BABY?!

Tomorrow night is supposed the biggie around DC - Baltimore. I'm hiding the Batmobile in the garage very close to the brick side of the house, with the van pulled in on the opposite side as the sacrificial lamb in case the rather flimsy outer garage wall goes airborne. Then again, I thought it would be better to drive her out to a big, vacant parking lot somewhere away from any flying debris.
I dunno' - anybody else going mental over Ms. Isabel?

Ron (I wish it just snow).

I would hate for something to happen to my baby before I even get to drive her(not registered yet). Thats all I can do is park her infront of my house, away from trees, and hope for the best.

Ron-

Hope you're above/away from any water as flood surge even worse threat than winds.
Meanwhile, all we Coastal Yankees have to worry about is drowning.
...Let us pray...

keep out from under trees!

unbelieveable! Calvert County and apparently most other school districts in Maryland have already cancelled school for tomorrow....I honestly don't remember missing school back when Agnes torn through this area....
-Bill (also remembering when he walked to school in the blinding snow...)

Ron and others effected,

The news on TV this evening has shown us what you could be expecting up there. Not nice. We have had high winds further south from where I live, blowing trucks over and ripping off a few roofs, but nothing like what it appears is coming your way.

I sincerely hope you guys come through it OK. Trevor. *<)

Greetings to all from hopefully high & dry Delaware.
We are busy battening down the hatches. This past Monday, there was flooding in northern DE about 5 miles from our house. We got 6" of rain in 8 hours. My back and front yards are saturated but hopefully the basement will remain dry.
Those 125 foot high trees in our backyard are lookig down on the roof of our hose and if I see one of them eyeing an SVX, I'll get out the ole' chain saw.

Like Ron, I lived through Hazel, Agnes and more recently Floyd.
I drove to Buffalo, NY during hurricane Agnes in the '70 Toronado.

Subydoo & Pearly are in the garage, but AH SO & SVXY will have to brave it out in the driveway.

Opps, I forgot to take in the lawn chairs.

Major Huricanes lived through:
Camile
Hazel
Agness
Floyd

One last line:
"I'm blown away by all of this."

Larry, I've never been to Delaware, so seeing you mention (for approximately the nine thousandth time) that you live there, I decided to visit the state's website.

What the hell is it with naming official state mascots there? I mean, take a look at this:

http://www.state.de.us/gic/facts/history/delfact.htm

State fish, state fossil, state beverage??? Don't get me wrong, I love milk, but is there really a lot of dairy farming in Delaware?

AUGH! I just noticed that the lady bug is your state bug. I had a terrible infestation of those in the house in Michigan and I now hate them more than any living creature, and that includes Oprah.

Do you realize that lady bugs are 'reflex bleeders?' They leave little yellow stains whether you squash them or not, and they stink.

Anyway, I have just never seen so many 'official state' itemsin my life.

'State soil...' weird.

Someday when I'm back on the east coast, I'm going to make it a point to visit Delaware to see what kind of place picks a state marine animal.

Alright, anyway, here's hoping that all of you (and your SVXen, of course) make it through the storm okay. My brother lives in DC, so I'll be keeping an eye (har) on the news.

Nick,

I did not get to vote for the 'State Beverage.'
I would have picked Scotch.

You'd think the the FIRST state would take all the good mascots. But.....The weakfish, & the blue hen?! I think them Dover forefathers might have been a tad pickled when divvying up the animal kingdom.

Exactly my point. Thank you.

I don't care how important it is to local businesses - if the fish is called the 'weakfish,' rename it or stock your ponds with something else before you call it the state fish.

That friggin' Chinese Snakehead - now there was a fish. I bet that thing would kick the weakfish's ass.
