antenna mast replacement?

I need a new antenna mast. The Subaru dealer wants $50. I've found it for $45 (includng shipping) from 1stsubaruparts. I stopped by Pep Boys. The have replacement power masts for $15, but none for the SVX. I checked a couple of local stereo shops and they don't have any available. Does anyone know of an aftermarket replacement part for the antenna mast for less than what Subaru is asking?

I asked around at a few places and had no luck - including Best Buy, Circuit City, and a custom car stereo store.

The custom shop told me it has to do with the long curved section of the tube that feeds down to the motor. The shop tech said he didn't think I'd find anything with a long enough plastic cord on the mast (from the aftermarket) to fully extend the antenna, even if something fit otherwise.

Of course, YMMV, I live in a relatively small town environment.

Thanks for the info. Not what I was hoping for, but that's what I figured. I'll just place my order with Subaru.

I guess if I wanted easily available car parts, I'd drive a Camry, Accord or Taurus. But then I'd have to drive a boring car.

Mine broke about 3 mos ago after our 100 year snowstorm. I ordered the mast assy from subaruparts.com for abour 45 bucks including shipping. Subaru part # 86322PA010

Doug (mohrds) did a great "how-to". It made the job easy. Just do a search, or check his locker. It's here somewhere....
