O/T Broken a spark plug in my brat engine
Just about ready to drop my newer engine into my brat (actually just waiting on the muscle to pick it up). I was changing the spark plugs today since it was obvious the hadn't been done in oh a good decade or so. First 3 came out fine with a little elbow grease but the 4th broke off right at the threads. Any ideas for removing it? I'm guessing drilling wouldn't be good, besides, I'm not the best with a drill and still would wonder how to get the fine threads out!

If it broke off right at the threads, it should be a hollow threaded piece left, get an "easy out" it might back right out, or use a propane torch on it to heat the area a little(don't use a set of torches , might burn up the head).
Good Luck

Another idea might be to make a few calls and locate a machine shop that will remove the broken part if you trot the whole engine down to them. If you're not handy, experienced and/or well equipped you may invoke more headache than results. Screwing it up could cost you the removal of the head, machine shop service (anyway) and a gasket set.
Another consideration if you decide to give it a go is to make sure no stray pieces end up inside the cylinder, that would not be a good thing.

O/T spark plug broke off in my brat
Thanks! Its out. Got a easy out set from sears for all of $12. Guess that'll mean my SVX goes w/o a new battery for another week. Bad news is one of the broken pieces of ceramic is unaccounted for. My thought is that ceramic is strong but fragile and should get crunched up quick and suspended in the oil or better yet go out the exhaust. Is my thinking majorly flawed? The engine has about 90k on it and is more of a year or two stop gate while I rebuild my one that imploded.

You want to put a duel range it the SVX? OK then.
The tranny bell housings are different but I think the transfer cases are interchangable.
