Power Antenna
Now to replace the power antenna as the mast is bent and will not retract all the way.
A few questions: Will a generic power ant replacement work or is there something special about the SVX one? Are their any special tools or tricks to get the old one out? I hope this will be the easiest of my projects, but probably not, its a SVX not a Chevy!! Hoping to hear reassuring ideas!! Thanks! |

Buy a replacement mast from Subaruparts.com (part # 86322PA010 ) and follow the how to http://www.capital-internet.net/%7Ed...na/antenna.htm
Its easy and about $45 Generic replacements will not fit because of the two stage rear fender system. Doug

Thanks much!
I bought the car with the 3" tail that will not go all the way down! Now tell me more about the two antennas the SVX has... One in the windshield, with the Titanium that prevents Rf signals?? Learn something new everyday with this SVX!! Thanks! |

No titanium

Only the front screen has the metallic coating. I think. However, the extra aerial is the top part of the rear screen heater mesh. You will notice the wire going up that pillar when you fix the mast. This second aerial amuses me, because the radio always works immediately using the signal from that one, even before the mast has extended. Lee and others mentioned before about frequency having a part in this. Shorter wavelength radiation is more easily attenuated or cut. So radar will be severly restricted, but radio reception less so. All will depend on signal strength of course, but presuming equivalent signal strenth, the radio will be less compromised. Joe
