ball joint flange nuts
Are these flange nuts all swaged? (deformed threads) to allow for a better lock?
I had to order replacement ones quickly but the supply house did not have a fine thread with this swaged I.D. This question is for the (3) 17mm nuts and the (1) 14mm nut. I'm not sure what subaru provides considering mine were badly rusted. |

Re: ball joint flange nuts
Answering my own question. I just picked these up at subaru today...all nuts for the ball joints have deformed threads, there are swage markings on the nuts.
(Just for future reference if people are curious like me.) |

Re: ball joint flange nuts
Meaning the metal has a few "stamp" indentations on the outside of the nut to cause a round thread to be smashed into a slightly deformed shape.

Re: ball joint flange nuts
Oh, like the hole for the bolt is oval instead of round?

Re: ball joint flange nuts
They are ugly...and very rare to find...of course it's only a subaru part.
I checked 3 fastener warehouses and no one had them, go figure. |
