Question Turn signal lever

Has anyone ever removed or replaced the turn signal lever. My button that brightens the clock and temp etc. does not work. I don't know if this is a major job, and I should just leave it that way, or try to replace the whole lever. Any thoughts on how to fix just the button switch would be appreciated as well. Thanks

I looked at an Alldata CD I have and the procedure to replace the whole signal mechanism is incredibly complicated. I can print/scan and post if you want, but let me give you a hint ... remove airbag, take off front wheels, undo steering shaft yoke, pull steering shaft, pull steering wheel, etc.

Maybe somebody knows a better way to just do part of the job.

I just got out of the SVX, and it isn't that hard to see those numbers afterall. Thanks, I thought that it might be that easy. I have many more things to be fixed before I will ever get around to that. All I have to do is drive when it is dark, and it will be just right.

The turn lever is part of the Combination Switch Assembly.

New combi switch = $$$$$. Find a used one.

I recently replaced mine because the one of the contacts for the wires that activate the airbag became faulty. It's not too hard, but you will need a security torx bit (a torx with a hole in the centre).

It took me about 2 hours, and I found one of the bolts that hold the plate directly underneath the steering column stuck. I ended up unscrewing the ignition and wiggle the wire thru a very tight gap around the ignition. Other than that, it wasn't too bad, although you will be working upside down underneath the steering column for most of the time.

I have my old combi switch laying around somewhere. I was going to take it apart to see how it worked at some point, but if you can scavenge it, we can talk.
