Just as the title says and where to get it. I've looked everywhere and can find the magnaflow cat.

Ok I have another stupid question: could I reuse the 3 gaskets or should i go buy new ones? And the magnaflow cat does it fit directly in place of the old one or will I have to rig it up? Just want to clear these up before I put it in because the noise and gas mileage loss is killing me

The stock main cat has flanges, and the magnaflow one has slip-on pipes. Also, the inlets and outlets are different sizes. You won't be able to use it without modifying the rest of your exhaust system. What I did was cut the pre-cats after the first 45* bend, and cut the midpipe just in front of the resonator (get rid of the small bend behind the main cat). Then I used 2" flex pipes from the pre-cats into the Magnaflow, and a small piece of 2.5" pipe from the back of the cat to the resonator. You'll need adapters as well, but I can't recall the size offhand.

I'll have my car up on jackstands tomorrow, I can take pictures if it will help.

Here's some pictures:

The pre-cat pipes were cut 4-6" back from the end of the cat's, and adapters were used to get the flexible pipes to fit:



The flex-pipes bend and slide onto the inlets of the Magnaflow cat:



There's a small piece of pipe off the back of the Magnaflow, which is clamped to the stock mid-pipe that was cut a couple inches ahead of the resonator:



You have to cut the mid-pipe a bit further back than just after the flange. Take a look and you will see it bends slightly between the flange and the resonator. You need to cut this bend out or the resonator will hang down so low it will scrape on things. Trust me.

Something to be mindful of is that this is just a temporary solution. In a completely dry place I would give those flew pipes a year before failing. Somewhere with snow and salted roads I'd give them 6 months. That's the reason one of mine is new, I blew up the old flew pipe at the snow track. That was the loudest, most unpleasant drive home of my life.

Here's what happened to the old flex pipe:



Most of the unwinding was from me tearing it off today, but it sheared off at the connection to the main cat.

So again, go ahead with this, but start saving for a proper exhaust, wherever you want to get it from. I went with this because I couldn't afford the $2300 the shop wanted to replace the pre-cats so I could pass safety. I'll be replacing it with a complete stainless system soon enough.

18". They cost me something like $12.50 each. Make sure you get the 2-1/8" ones, a 2" is too small.

How in the world can Magnaflow claim this Catalytic converter as a part
(#94007) that fits an SVX, considering the cutting and pasting involved in its installation you have described, and as lasting only 6 months or less? I was on the verge of ordering that part, too, until reading your post.

Have also read even the OEM Subaru catalytic converters have to be monkeyed to fit because of a redesign of the part. Am paralyzed now, temporarily anyway.

I think he meant the piping he chose only lasted 6 months due to the harsh salt treatments that they have up north.

I had my old magnaflow for 4 years without a problem.

I honestly dont remember. It's been such a long time. I just remember it was a magnaflow 1 to 1 that Dayle sells.

I had an exhaust shop near me fabricate all the necessary bends. The only thing I can really provide are pictures and sound clips. The more recent exhaust I have now consists of a magnaflow 2-in-1.
