New Rotor and pad replacemnet question

I just got done installing new cross drilled front rotors and pads. When I got drive the car around the block and brake I get a grinding noise/ rubbing noise. Is this common? I followed all the instrustions from this site (how too) which make the project quite easy. I was thinking that they might need a bit more of a break-in period?? Is this common? I used the Axxis pads. Any insight?

Don't know if it's supposed to, but it happened to me as well. I think what's happening is the machine shop doesn't surface the wheel after drilling/slotting, so there are machining ridges. If not not, then it must be in the plating process, i.e., more building up on the edges.

I've had mine on for weeks and they are still a bit noisier than "normal" rotors while braking, but OK while just driving.

After driving 30 or so miles tonight I noticed that the noise is starting to decrease.
