All about my REALLY AWESOME day at the junkyard

So Dad and I were gonna cruise his 64 1/2 Mustang down to the auto parts store to pick up a bolt for the Peugeot, when I suggested that we go to the junkyard while we are out and look for a grille for my wife's turbo legacy.
When I get to the yard, I notice there is a new SVX in the yard, a 92 claret. It's not in the greatest of shape, but it had the corner light that I needed for mine.

In the course of digging for a screwdriver or something to that effect in the car, I notice that the trunk is missing it's center light panel, and I think to myself damn, must have had an Alcyone light panel. Don't find a screwdriver, but I decide to dig in the car and see if it has the under seat tray or the cupholder, when I happen to glance between the seats and see this:

So about this time I'm doing the happy dance, and I go to the front of the car to lift the hood and see if the drive train was still in it (it wasn't) but I found this on the hood:

So I went back to the inside of the car in order to see if there are any other goodies in there, and I find these inside the car:

I did forget the drive shaft though, so next week when I get paid I'm going to go back and get the drive shaft, and check to see what ratio the rear diff is. The pedal cluster looks like a PITA to get to since the car is smashed on that side, so I probably won't grab that (It's just a normal boring Subaru MT pedal cluster, not a WRX cluster like I was hoping), but now I have almost all I need to convert it to a 5 speed I wonder if this belonged to anyone on here? Doubtful, but someone who is into their SVX enough to swap to a 5 speed has probably at least heard of the board.

i'd like to see more of the parts, you may have more work to do than you think with those parts as it looks as though they have been modified, but maintained the original geometry... meaning they have also modified some part of the SVX as well.

...just a heads up!

Re: All about my REALLY AWESOME day at the junkyard

I pulled parts out of the one on the left in that picture

Good find though. There were supposed to be two SVX's there when I went, but I only found the Claret. The other was stacked somewhere to be crushed. Was kinda disappointed about that. But whatever, I got what I needed.

Re: All about my REALLY AWESOME day at the junkyard

The "other" one was a green 92, and it had been out there for quite a while, like 4+ years, there wasn't much left of it. I'm sure the trans was good in the other claret, it's just a matter of whether the Mexicans that pulled it marked it properly. I plan on going back out there this week and snaggin the drive shaft and the shift linkage, and I'll crawl underneath and look at it closer.

Re: All about my REALLY AWESOME day at the junkyard

Yeah there wasnt much left that was usable on the inside of that Claret either. Just got some small plastic trim stuff that trip. If you go to Salem, OR there is a red 95 L at that yard, though that isnt a pick a part. Also, I took pretty much the entire interior of that car, and what I could use from the trunk. I would have taken some of the lights in front, but they wont part it out any more than it already is. They want to sell it as a whole I believe.

That's what all of the cars and trucks are on at the local yard with 1000's of cars. I've seen cars were the body crushed down around the wheel, but I've never seen one of the "stands" fail.

Ditto... that looks like a small-car kit

Heh yeah, you really got to watch what you remove when your dealing with those PAP car stands

By the time we were ready to yank the engine it was getting pretty low to the ground

Legacy 2.2.
Using it as a example of wrecking yard jackstands and what happens when you remove the rad support to pull the engine.
