They were brighter in '92. most headlamp assemblies only output about ~30% of the original lumens onto the road after 10 years. The main reasons for this are breakdown (corrosion) of the wiring, Pitting of the outer lens (both visible and microscopic) and degradation of the optics (cracks in the projector lens, corrosion of the projector housing, dirt, oil contamination, etc.)

Yeah, not bad as from 92. Somehow I feel our stock lights still work better than some other later cars with halogen. I have no problem with my lights but it's great to have HIDs, brighter, look cool and expensive.

It depends on where you go.
Average retail for the kits are about $350.00, plus shipping.
Speaking of shipping Di checked on UPS, and USPS and shipping to Washington state, for example was less than $10.00.

Couple questions... are these standard D2S bulbs or modified to fit in 9006 housings... and where's a good source for replacement bulbs when they burn out?

They are 9006 bulbs, they fit perfectly into our lights. Considering the light wont burn out for like 3-10 years... depending on how heavily they are used, buying replacements is not going to be an issue. I think roughly 30-60 per bulb is the average price.
