Brand New (Rebuilt) Alternator F/S

I have a brand new rebuilt alternator for sale. I rebuilt it using the Transpo parts specified in the write up on here. I would like $120 shipped and I would need your old one back as a core.

Has it been bench tested to see what the output is?

No... I am putting it in my car this weekend and driving it to see how everything is. Once everything checks out I will put my old one back in and the new one is up for sale. IF there were to be a prob I would have no issues with fixing it.

Most parts places will do that for you. Just take it in, and they will bench it to find out the stats.

The testing method is not always a good test. It generally just tests output and not the internal regulator. Most of the time it is only a short test and does not build up the true load and HEAT of real operation and provides a false reading.

True, intermittently I was having power problems with my car. I noticed that the two small wires that connect to the alternator where cracked. Anyways I took the alt to AutoZone and had them test it. They said it was fine so I replaced the wiring and hoped all was well.. Car ran good for about 20 miles and then died..
I swapped the alt with a different one and have not had a problem since, hoping it stays that way.

In my experience rebuilt alternators have problems. I learned my lesson the hard way. I had to exchange my alternator 4 times. They all kept dieing within 1 to 3 months. They were from different manufactures too. In the end I was refunded back with my money. I went and bought an alternator from a junkyard. It was an original one that came with the car. So i think its better to settle by buying the alternator from the dealer new. Or taking it out of an old SVX. Saves time. I just baught a new one from the dealer. I'm not sayin this alternator is bad. In my experince this part is better off as a dealer only item.

I have never had any problems at all with rebuilt SVX alternators. I have replaced the alternator on all three that I have owned. Every one was done with a rebuilt and I have had no issues at all. My first car (mersury cougar) I did run into the issue that a rebuilt that I bought from Autozone did die on me in a week, but I went back in and they gave me a new one and that worked until the car went to the junk yard due to a head gasket failure.

Rebuilt Alternators are quite common in this network, and quite reliable as well.

Is a rebuild kit available? I remember doing this years ago when rebuild kits were usually available at Whitlock autopart stores.
