One more back on the road!

Hi All!!

Its official- One more SVX is now back on the road!!! Finally got my 92 LSI back onto the roadways. Purchased it several months ago dead in the water. But after new brakelines, tires, rims, transmission, valve cover gaskets, power steering lines, trans lines, trans filter, plugs, fuel pump, fuel lines, new crank pulley, main crank timing gear, and shear pin- it is now driving again! Took it on a hundred mile trip today and discovered I'm about halfway done... now to the brake system, suspension system, rear end, and bearings.... Oh, and the sunroof won't close...

But---I LOVE IT!!!!

Re: One more back on the road!

Nice work

I'm currently on the path of the man who crosses half of a room, then half the distance from there, then half, and so on. Forever half way there, but never reaching the destination. It sounds like this is one SVX that's found itself in good hands.

You can manually crank the roof shut. Tool was supplied with new cars and instructions in the owner's manual.

Great to hear of this resurrection.

Re: One more back on the road!

Good job on addressing some items and getting the car back together..

You may need to push on either the right or left side of the sunroof as its closing, in order for it to catch. I've had this problem before.

Good luck.

Re: One more back on the road!

Drove it again today, still running well. BUT- I have to get the shimmy fixed in the front end. Only happens above 60, any suggestions. It also shimmys on hard braking.. Bad bearing???

Check some of the obvious things first, flat spots on tires, wheels out of balance, brake rotors could be warped causing the "shimmy" when braking.

Re: One more back on the road!

If the shimmy comes & goes it's probably not wheel balance. That would give you a constant shimmy which will increase with speed.

Check for a bent or slightly dented rim. If you suspect one the shimmy will be less if you put it on the rear.

Re: One more back on the road!

I will check the rims- I did put a cheap set on it just so it could be driven. I'm really thinkin a warped rotor could be the cause. And I have to replace the CTS and iris valve. But... These were halfway expected due to sitting for 2 years.

Btw- anyone have a 97 grill for sale? I would trade a good 92 grill...
