Re: repair costs

Labor costs only $150-400 depending on the shop and their ability, tools and if they send the stuff out to a machine shop. I paid $125 for an impreza rear bearing in the fall from a local subie specialist I've know for 10 years but that is cheap.

Re: repair costs

The Subaru dealer quote I got several years ago for rear bearings was $400 for each side that included parts and labor. Since you are in Ellicott City you should definitely have SVXFiles do them for you. You are probably less than 2 hours away and he is well worth the drive.

Definitely. EC to Wiley Ford, WV is about 130 miles; less than 2 hours.

I just came back from there yesterday. Where else can you find SVX expertise for $40.00/hr.

Ummm. I think you got ripped off or your slacking at the very least... Steaming and degreasing. That is completely unsvxcess like.

Will agree with ya about SVXfiles but remember the ask was more of a "how much should they have charged me" then "how much should I pay".

Hey, Bill - I bought a bearing from some lawyer guy for 50 bucks, then had it installed/pressed by R.P.M. Automotive, Hanover, MD (close to Arundel Mills Mall). Total install was $210.00. Of course that was in 2005 dollars, but the wheel hasn't disintegrated yet!

Ron.

That was a good deal. You can't get it done at a dealer for that price.

Re: repair costs

Teal SVX, two rear wheel bearings, replaced December 2006 by the local shop I've used exclusively for anything beyond my middling skills or limited patience: Parts, labor, machine shop sublet, "shop supplies," pizza delivery, out the door total—$465.00

The mind headed south years ago too. Now I'm going move the body down to the Blue Ridge (Blacksburg, VA), iffn' I can sell the house in this goofy marketplace.
