Infinity 6x9 install w/ pics
Ok I got some Infinity Kappa 693.7i 6x9's and crutchfield said they don't fit.
I see why. They don't unless you're willing to mod your speaker grills. See the pics as to why and see the main tools needed to remove and install speakers. I also used a pr of baffles behind speaker, even if one end gets a lil squashed. Removing seat and popping truck panel loose are the tuffest things to do. I used a 32T hacksaw to trim the plastic grate, after removing speaker grill. I tossed the fabric grill cover. Used adhesive backed velcro and a lil duct tape, as insurance, to hold xovers in place between bottom of rear deck and trunk panel. They sound good and were worth the hassle to install. Got some Kenwood KFC-P708 6.5" goin in up front next week. That should help me rock out.

Nice Job. I bet they sound great.
Anybody know what the small rectangular panel on the speaker grills is intended for? There must be a reason behind it. Perhaps some optional tweater fits in there?

If you pop that cover out , it gives access to the threaded hole to install the baby seat tether.

OK. That explains it. I wonder if it might be possible to find some kind of tweater that is about the right size and shape to fit there.
My baby seat attaches to the seatbelts. But it doesn't really fit properly because the rear seat is sloping. In an accident it would most likely flip up and slam the babys head into the rear seat back. I thought putting a rolled up blanket underneath to flatten out the rear seat, but it's much easier to just put the baby seat in the front (or drive the Legacy instead).

I just replaced mine with a set of Kenwood 6x9's. I havent put the cover back on, but I will be in the next day or so. I'll post up if these fit under the grills.
