Thoughts on Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS tires?

Anyone running these tires? The survey results on tirerack show they handle very well and can do light snow duty.

I currently have the Conti ExtremeContact and they are very good in all areas. The new Bridgestones appear even better in the wet and dry. Since I will encounter more rain than snow, I focus on wet traction (although I do not want to put the SVX into a snow bank on the way to Tahoe either).

The price difference is fairly large. In 225/50/16 size, the Contis are a steal at $78 and the Potenzas are a lofty $126. There is a $100 rebate on a set of RE960AS (and other Potenzas) for car club members (SCCA, BMW, PCA, etc). So that cost difference narrows.

If you have these tires, please post your thoughts on them. Thanks!

While I do not have any personal experience with the RE960's I've herd some pretty good reviews.

I currently have General Exclaim UHP's which are fantastic. Excellent dry and wet traction and they are even M+S rated. I ran than for a short time in Anchorage, AK during winter, and while they are definitely not a dedicated snow tire they are relatively decent with all wheel drive. For the price, I truely do not think they can be beat. For the stock SVX tire size it is $80 per tire. Check them out on tire rack (rated number one in the ultra high performance summer category).

I've never bought tires on the 'net. I assume that you simply order them to your door and then have someone install them. What do you do about road hazard, lifetime balance and rotation, etc when you don't purchase tire locally? Tirerack's road hazard warranty seems pointless to me.
