If I had the equipment and know-how, I'd be more than happy to test out the entire SVX intake tract.

Not sure how many CFMs a shop vac pulls, but at school we made a flow bench for a much smaller engine just using the suction of a shop vac. The cabinet for the flow bench was just particle board and lexan with a nice seal at all the joints. I can't imagine it's much harder than making a sub enclosure, but you'd need a vacuum source. I somehow doubt that the shop vac would work for the 3.3 boxer 6

Some of the new Ford and Holden (Australia) cars come with a cone filter type design, BUT it is sealed within a box that runs to the fender well. I'm going to do some research into fitting one of those puppies into the SVX. Then it'll be cold air induction with a HUGE surface area filter... YEEHAWWW!!!

I know several members have pipes running from their MAF into the hole that leads to the fender well. They've also cut out some of the plastic shield underneath the car to help unrestrict airflow... I guess.

At any rate, it *sounds* really neat.

I heard that it was one of the highest-flowing K&N filters, and I know for a fact that it was a popular thing to put on the Ford SHO series cars.

air filter

I just had the air intake filter put in from dayles Motor sports Warehouse. What are the problems with this and does anyone have pictures of the heat shield install you are talking about. Does performance go down without it and what other problems could occur. Thanks. Bill

Some say that this sucks in more hot air than a stock setup but i noticed a little better throttle response and it makes your engine sound alot better. I dont know how it compares with the k&n pannel filter because I havent tried it, but in my opinion it is better than stock. I dont have pics of the heatsheild but you can get it from autozone for $10. You'll know it when you see it.
