Cool OT - COOLEST birthday gift

OK, so today I turned, well......old and my wife got me the coolest birthday gift ever. A ride in a Boeing B-17 bomber!!!! How cool is THAT!

Four BIG radial engines, gun turrets, a real piece of WWII history. I can't WAIT for next spring to head out into the wild blue yonder and feel the power of the Flying Fortress.

What a great wife!

Todd (a huge WWII airplane buff)

Happy birthday! what an awesome present, if I had my choice that is what I would pick. My grandfather was in the 501st bomb division, he was an in flight engineer on the Purple heartless, and the Toyko hitchiker,(both B-17s) was in the last plane that took off behind the Enola Gay, (the one that dropped the big one). I hope you have an exiting time when you go, happy birthday and best wishes..

Good deal, Todd, but did she get you economy or spring for first class? Happy birthday.

Ron.

Significant Technical Input
I can see that a woman of her good taste and generous heart needs a larger outlet. Maybe you should consider adopting me to help lighten her burden - we wouldn't want her to explode from pent-up generosity, now would we?

Happy B-day!

Thanks guys!

What a great lady!

The B-17 flys out of the Yankee Air Museum in Belleville, MI about an hour from my house. My wife scheduled the trip in the spring so that I can fly with her grandfather and retired USAF full bird colonel who flew a variety of bombers and transport planes while in the service. He's a great guy who I know will enjoy this as much as I will. Trust me pics will be posted!

Beav, I inquired about the adoption, she says "No go". Something about a newly adopted sons with a Hooter fascination .

Larry, bring those Messerschmidts on! (For a German WW-II plane I prefer the Fw-190, much better lines!) I'll make sure we're loaded and ready for 'em. Besides, Nick says I'll have escorts. P-51, P-47, P-38, who knows?

Todd (soon to be a turret gunner)
