That is a transmitter for Lo-Jack. You're being watched.

CELL PHONE
I resently read somewhere that the SVX came with connection that made it "Cell Phone ready" That looks to me like an adapter box for an old analog cell phone.(Got one simular to it at work on the ship". The large connector is for the hand set that would be by the drives seat and the other is the antenna jack. Im just taken a guess. I havn't accually seen one in a car yet. But lick I said. I read about it in an SVX Spec page and it looks simular(not Identical) to would we have on the ship.

There is a cell phone hookup but I've never seen or heard of anything like this under the rear seat.

found where I saw it
this is the link
http://www.cars101.com/subaru_svx.html of course it says its suppose to be in the truck, not under the back seat. Could be the previous owner got tired of looking at it and moved it. It's the last item listed under the 92-93. |

cell phone
Ok it started to bother me. I went and looked at the ship's cell system. I was wrong. Its not the cell phone adapter. It's the accual phone. What you got the is the transciever for a motorola bag phone. All you need now is a battery/power supply, an antenna, and a hand set and your good to go. (shame all the cell networks are switching to a digital evenually). It looks almost like ours except ours is bare metal colored and not black.
Wanna sell it I'll give ya 5 bucks. |

Where can I find the missing accessories? It looks as if the coaxial antennae goes up on the right side rear window molding. You think the antennae is in the roof some where? I wonder what other parts I need to complete this? The network-like cord then heads to the front under the right side carpet under the door sill plate. What plugs in the parallel port then? I also have a few holes that were drilled in the console in the front passenger side.

parts
Well, your gonna have a time getting parts. they probubly stopped making parts about 5 years ago or better. You can get a hold of Motorola. If they dont have any extra parts floating around. They'll be able to give you the name of someone who might have bought a crap load to stock them. powers no big deal. it runs of 12V you can just tap that off your battery. the hard parts going to be the handset. Unless your going to go for car show orgional. I'd just go to a local cellular distributar an tell them you want a car set-up for a digital cell phone. The can install one with a handset and external antenna alot easier than finding parts for that one. Trust me. I know. The only reason we still have one is because a digital phone wont work with our internal phone system.

Not sure what you mean by network cord. It could be your power. Best I can say is follow it to the end. The pallel port is were the hand set plugs in, which is what the holes on the side of your consol are from. I saw an SVX with a cellular antenna mounted on the passenger rear window(not the part that opens obviously) I'm not sure if it was the orgional antenna or not though. I'm thinkin it probubly was. Look at the window and see if there are any scuffs where the antenna may have been removed.
