The transmision already had its rebuild. Only has very minor problems such as a bulb out in the interior, and the moonroof motor needs a light push to pop up sometimes.

Later on down the line, when I get the money, I hope to maybe convert it to a more JDM spec, that is change over to the JDM AWD set-up and ad the 4-wheel-steering...Then after that, I will probably look to get more power out it....But until then, I am very happy with the car the way it is.

Hi,
New guy here, trying to get my crap together to head up and collect the SVX I spoke for a couple of weeks ago...

I drove several over the years, but never owned one... decided to look for my "mid-life crisis" car, and looked at a lot (!) of different models, but kept coming back to the SVX... I got rid of my Volvos and been looking for a while.

Love the info and the tech sharing.. reminds me of the old days with the 240's that I used to race.

Hi Everyone, I just purchased a 1997 Brilliant Red SVX LSi a few weeks ago in Oakland and it now resides with me here in So-Cal. It's my second SVX and my 4th Subaru over the past 11 years.

I had my first SVX (a 1995 Green LSi) in 2000 and remember visiting the Yahoo group and remember when this forum took off. I sold it about 18 months later for a new 2002 WRX that I drove for about 5 years... since the WRX I've driven a 2006 STi and still do.

I never forgot how nice the SVX drove... and when I came upon this red 1997 with 33,000 miles, it was in such great shape that it could not be passed up.

I think there might be some interesting history to this SVX and I will start another thread about it to get some opinions. Anyway, looking forward to spending some time here!

Welcome to the forum (again?). Nice to hear of another SVX on the west side. Pop over to our "California Owners" thread when you get a chance and check in there as well. We've got quite a few members in the central CA area, and a small group here in the southland. Nothing compared to the east coast in numbers, but there are some great cars on the forum in our area. I work in Santa Monica and live in Topanga, so I hope to see you on the street sometime. Just don't show me up with your low mile 97, I'll be the guy trying to go fast enough that you don't notice all the little dents.

Proud new owner of a 92 SVX in pearl white. It was on the local craigs list dirt cheap and just said needs engine. I looked at it and saw it was worth putting a jdm engine in if it really needed one, but I was also suspisious of the owners story of a loud knocking only under load and it has gotten louder over a years time. He parked it over 3 years ago. He had all of the wires and hoses disconnected, basically the engine was ready to pull out. I towed it about a mile home and proceeded to reconnect everything. It fired right up and i heard the tell tale clanging of a broken flexplate. I discovered that a dealer had put in a new transmission in like 2003 and didn't tighten the flexplate to torque converter bolts enough. It wasn't actually cracked, but the bolts were loose enough to egg out the holes. I found a new one on ebay for $20 with shipping and threw it in. Problem solved.
It's got 156,000 miles. It looks petty good. It needs bumper cover work and it has on rust spot under the gas door. It has a new Subaru windshield, and you better believe its getting glass coverage! I drove it around today for the first time and put about 100 miles on it. It REALLY needs tires as they got flat spotted from sitting for over 3 years. Everything seems to work except the cruise, but I also have a ABS light and I suspect its related.
About me: 30 something. I worked at a Subaru dealer in Phoenix for 6 years and moved to the Prescott area and worked at the local Subaru dealer here for another 9 months and then they closed in early 08. I have since totally changed careers. I only worked on a couple of SVXs in all those years and it was really nothing memorable or even SVX specific. I was getting heavily invovled in restoring and maintaining a couple of International Harvester trucks before I got the SVX bug, but they are really on the back burner until my wife finishes school. If you think SVX parts are hard to come by try finding rotors for a IFS IH truck front end! Everything is like that with IHs.
I used a forum for everything on my IHs and I hope to gain knowledge and help out when I can here.

Hello everyone new here, but not to the SVX I bought one a year ago almost to the day. It's a 92 ebony Ls-l it has 188k on it now, had 170k when I got it. It's had a bebuilt trans sometime in it's life found a tag on the pan bolts other than that iv done new wheel bearings,new radiator, power steering hose, brakes, tranny filter and fluid change. And now she needs head gaskets

I have started to register any SVX, whether wrecked, or running. Look in the registration forum and see how it is going. I have got around 700 listed so far of all years. If you have any info for me, let me know.

Will do. Man, I have not been around this part of the web forever. I know I parted out my 94 Bordeaux and someone I sold one of my 92 Liquid silvers were parted out. Hate to part out a SVX but there are more $ to be made on parts than whole at times. Sad... but true...
