it's probably only an hour's worth of work by the book.. maybe two.. depending on whether you use a new or reman axle, you could pay between $80 and $300 for the part alone.. i'd say a good starting point with a reman axle would be $250, maybe $300 per side at a non-dealer mechanic..

I'm not sure if you can buy the cv joints seperately. Most people just replace the whole half axle. I replaced one myself just a few days ago. It took a little while for me to figure out how to get the old axle out but the new one went in fairly easily. I bought mine at thepartsbin.com . They have free shipping on all orders over $50. However you will have to pay shipping to return the core back to them. I'm confident that you'll be able to do this repair yourself. Just do a search on here and you should be able to find instructions on how to replace it.
